Dr. Maria Husain is a board certified comprehensive ophthalmic physician and surgeon. Born in Chicago, she grew up in Tarpon Springs, Florida. After graduating as valedictorian of her high school, she attended the University of South Florida. She graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Biomedical Sciences. She also had the pleasure of attending University of Aberdeen in Scotland for an international exchange program. Next, she completed medical school at the University of South Florida, where she served as the president of her class. She then came to the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio for her training in internal medicine and ophthalmology. Now, she has been fortunate to live in the Las Colinas and Irving areas for the past three years and has called Texas her home for nearly a decade.
Her leadership abilities have translated well in clinical practice and patient care. To this end, she believes in presenting eye findings in an understandable manner, so patients can be their own best advocates. Dr. Maria Husain is a member of the Texas Medical Association, American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Dallas County Medical Society. In addition to publishing book chapters on many eye related topics, she has also presented her research at academic meetings. Also, she published her research on glaucoma procedures and novel surgical techniques in peer reviewed journals.
